As human beings we have a natural yearning to connect. Studies have linked people with strong social relationships to many aspects of positive health outcomes, especially among older adults.
Heartwood’s skilled nurses provide a steadfast commitment to providing high-level of care for our residents. This has never been more evident than the last two years during the pandemic. In addition to protecting and caring for our residents around the clock during a time of limited visitation and social distancing, our staff stepped in and served as family members and friends to ensure that residents had the essential social connections they needed.
The 2022 theme for NSNCW, held, May 8-14, will celebrate the essential role that skilled nursing care centers and staff play in Creating and Nurturing Connections for their residents.
This special week honoring caregivers across the country was originally known by a different name. Before last year, it was celebrated as National Nursing Home Week. The name was changed to reflect the increasingly complex medical care provided in facilities and the variety of ways people receive long-term or short-term care. This weeklong celebration has been happening since 1967! It is sponsored by the American Health Care Association and recognizes the role of skilled nursing care centers providing the necessary care and treatment for America’s elderly and others with disabilities.
Heartwood Extended Healthcare is excited to participate in National Skilled Nursing Care Week from May 8-14, 2022.
