Heartwood Extended Health Care is a modern, progressive 24-hour nursing center which serves the citizens of Pierce County and surrounding areas. We’re proud that we’re the last family-owned nursing facility in Tacoma and have been providing health care services since 1974.
A member of American and Washington Healthcare Association, our mission is to contribute to the growth of the whole individual by offering a facility in which the material, physical, mental and spiritual needs of the aged, the chronically ill, or the convalescent person is provided for through personalized and understanding care.

A Great Medical Team
When the resident is admitted to Heartwood, a multidisciplinary team works with the resident to establish a comprehensive plan of care. The plan includes the establishment of long and short range goals aimed at helping the resident to maximize their potential.

Rehabilitation Services
Our facility features a rehabilitation center with programs to include: individual evaluations, activities of daily living skills and progressive exercise therapies. We also offer gait and ambulation retraining, heat treatments, whirlpool therapies and progress self-feeding programs.
We feel that after comparing our facility to others, you will choose Heartwood to provide services to your loved ones. Heartwood was developed as a medical facility with the ability to be a truly satisfying, fulfilling living experience for every guest. A tour of the facility and introductions to the professional staff will allow you to assess the programs offered at Heartwood.
Heartwood accepts Medicare and Medicaid and other insurance and managed care providers. To find out more about Medicare and Medicaid, please visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website at www.cms.gov/.
